Lokhandwala Running Club is a free-for-all voluntary group that meets thrice a week.

Staying healthy is always easier when you have people around you who share and understand your goals. This is something Darshan Divakaran, founder of Lokhandwala Running Club – a voluntary initiative that is free for anyone to join - even children, understands well. Which is why he felt the need to start the club so that people living around the Andheri – Lokhandwala area could find support in each other to stay fit. As I was training, I met many runners in Lokhandwala and realized that everyone was running by themselves and barely knew each other. I decided to create a platform for all running enthusiasts to share experiences, training tips, and motivate each other to take up running, get better, and/or run marathons. I realized that other running clubs existed, but there were none in Lokhandwala,” he tells us.

Started back in 2013, today, the members of the club meet thrice a week – on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Joggers’ Park on Lokhandwala backroad at 6 am. It really doesn’t matter if you’ve been training for a while or are a novice, all you have to do to join is show up and volunteers will take you through a warm up routine before starting off.
